GP4: 2022 US GP Helmets (part 2)

It was really no surprise that there were so many speical helmets at the US GP in Austin, Texas, with 10 drivers that I could find running a different lid. I've already released two, and now I'm pleased to show you the rest of them that I have recreated.

Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc 2022 US GP helmet

Leclerc has a barbeque themed helmet, that's similar to his Monaco GP helmet with the red top and white bottom.

Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo 2022 US GP helmet

Ricciardo's helmet is inspired by Will Ferrell's film, 'Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby'. A nice special design, by JMD helmets.

Esteban Ocon

Esteban Ocon 2022 US GP helmet

Esteban Ocon came with this simple yet instantly recognisable Spiderman design. According to Esteban, the US is the land of superheroes. It got better when Alpine recreated the Spiderman meme with the helmet.

Lance Stroll

Lance Stroll 2022 US GP helmet

Lance Stroll wore this leather saddle based design, with the Aston Martin wings having the appearance of leather stitched onto a camel leather base. I like how the colour of the stitching highlights the strip along the top. A nice fun helmet.

Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel 2022 US GP helmet

Well, this helmet by MDM Designs wins the busiest helmet of the year, with a hippy based vibe to it, and peace and love worked in seamlessly in glittery gold. As you can imagine, this took a while to make, but I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Nicholas Latifi

Nicholas Latifi 2022 US GP helmet

Most blogs and helmet spotters missed Goatifi's special helmet, and to be fair, I only spotted it by accident. It's an amalgamation of his previous two special helmets, the maple syrup one he ran in Montreal and the red version of his helmet he's run since Hungary.

Zhou Guanyu

Zhou Guanyu 2022 US GP helmet

Zhou's helmet is denim jeans inspired, complete with leather belt and buckle. I really enjoyed making this one, doing the stitching and leather effects to go on top of the denim base. A nice design from KV helmet designs.

Mick Schumacher

Mick Schumacher 2022 US GP helmet

Mick Schumacher created this helmet inspired by his family's ranch with images of his sister, Gina-Marie as a surprise for her. She's an accomplished reining horse rider with several international accomplishments to her name. The images were put onto a sunset backdrop, with the front and top showing a clear night sky, like the ones you see in parts of Texas that are awe inspiring.
Special thanks to 32bobo32 for helping me find the pictures of Gina-Marie. It's a shame the wing shape has changed and that's exactly where Gina's picture is, but I've tried to make it seamless enough.

As ever, these helmets are painted on Jvinu's templates and shapes, and are ACSPRH compatible.

GP4: 2022 US GP Helmets (part 1)

Howdy y'all, it's race week in the USA and I expect a flurry of special helmets for this race. It's only Thursday and there's two helmets revealed already.

Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen 2022 US GP helmet
Max has gone blue, red and white for his helmet, replacing the gold he's been running most of the season. There's the blue and red ribbons underneath his usual design. All season, Max has run a star on the rear of his helmet for the Championship that he won last season, and now, fresh off his confirmation as a double World Champion, he's now running two stars on his lid.

Pierre Gasly

Pierre Gasly 2022 US GP helmet

Gasly is back to gold, having run a similar gold design back in Monaco. This time, the gold is super reflective and the French flag is gone. On the top there is a homage to Texas, with the state star prominently displayed

These helmets are painted on Jvinu's templates and shapes, and are ACSPRH compatible as usual.

GP4: 2022 Ferrari F1-75 by Fongu

2022 Ferrari F1-75 by Fongu

Today, I present to you my third 2022 car release, the Ferrari F1-75. The car began the year as the car to beat, with Charles Leclerc taking a commanding hold on the Championship. However, the Scuderia's fortunes began to turn and various mistakes, along with a resurgent Red Bull, meant the team lost its grip on the Championship.

At Monza, the team ran a special Modena yellow livery, that in conjunction with the car's chassis designation, F1-75, is to commemorate 75 years of Ferrari. I'm happy to include the livery in this release of the car.

My thanks goes to Carl_gpgames once more for creating lods for me and doing some testing. As with my other 2022 cars, the car is designed with the lower end PC in mind, so it has less high details, but without losing out on overall accuracy. I hope you enjoy this release.

GP4: 2022 Japanese GP helmets (part 2)

Today, the 2022 season helmet pack has been brough up to date with three new helmets from the Japanese GP. After all the various helmets, I don't think I want to see another Sakura blossom for a long time! Anyway, I'm pleased to present you these three beauties, each with its own charm. It's a good opportunity to talk a little about how I create my helmets, as I use three main techniques. Let's get into it.

Mick Schumacher

Mick Schumacher 2022 Japanese GP helmet

Agnieszka Wienand is no stranger to hand painting helmets, having done a couple of Vettel specials for the Japanese GP in the past, but it's Mick's turn to have this Sakura blossom themed masterpiece. The helmet was first embossed with Mick's design from this season on top of which the tree and flowers were painted. I hope to have managed to capture both elements in this recreation. Creating the right blue/grey gradient wasn't easy, especially if the gradient has to go over various seams. Then it was a case of drawing the tree trunk and branches, and then I managed to take a few samples of the sakuras painted by Agnieszka and carefully placed them around the helmet.

Alex Albon

Alex Albon 2022 Japanese GP helmet

Alex has gone pink with this design, this one designed by MDM Designs. The helmet design is essentially the same as his other helmets worn this year, so the contours are already in place. The sakuras were largely taken from the blueprints, but they needed a lot of correction which I have managed to complete seamlessly onto this helmet texture. Having good source material does help reduce the amount of time to produce the helmets, but it takes a bit more care than simply copy and pasting it on.

Valterri Bottas

Valterri Bottas 2022 Japanese GP helmet

This is another Tiffany Cromwell design, and I really like it. It's inspired by neon lights and signs in front of a blue brick wall. The wall blends in and out of a black base and actually that helped with the seams, it would have been difficult to match the brick definition if it did cross the seams. Then it was creating a neon light effect for the lights, which was fun to do with various stroke and glow effects. Then it was a case of finding the source vector files, and with a bit of searching, they weren't took hard to find. The most difficult was the Japanese writing on the right side of the helmet, which I eventually found to say 'Thank You' and again a stock image was available. Adding a bit of glow behind the neon signs and the helmet is complete.

These helmets are painted on Jvinu's templates and shapes, and are ACSPRH compatible as usual.

If you want to see most of the previews of the 100+ helmets I've done for the 2022 season, you can see them here: https://fongugp4.blogspot.com/p/gp4-2022-helmets.html

I see some US helmet specials have already been posted, so I'll be back soon with some more updates.

GP4: 2022 Japanese GP helmets (part 1)

Hey there racefans. This update is a significant milestone for me, because there are now 100 helmets in the 2022 season pack. I thought I'd make a release whilst I finish off the other Japanese GP helmets.

Lewis Hamilton

2022 Lewis Hamilton Japanese GP helmet

Lewis showed up in Japan with this bright helmet designed by Takashi Murakami, with whom he has collaborated with a range of clothing as well. Murakami's trademark flower smiley has been repeated in this rainbow coloured design. For this, I decided to make my own flower smiley so I could easily change the colours and fill the helmet.

2022 George Russell Japanese GP helmet

Another race, and another new lid for Russell, who has gone another shade of blue for this design, with the darker navy blue and lots of plusses. Note for this race that he runs a clear winged helmet, although it should be compatible with the solid wing shape if you choose to run that.

Yuki Tsunoda

2022 Yuki Tsunoda Japanese GP helmet

It's no surprise that the Japanese driver had a new lid for his first home race. Yuki actually ran a competition and this design by Hiromi Nagaoka was painted by Woodeye. This features koi fish and sakura blossoms, as well traditional Japanese style waves.

Sergio Perez

2022 Sergio Perez Japanese GP helmet

Checo's helmet for the Japanese GP now has a Japanese style twist to his usual design by MDM. White and red colours now abound, with subtle tones of sakura blossoms and turning the Red Bull logo into the rising sun. A really nice design, but it's a shame it's got very similar colours to Max's regular helmet.

Sebastian Vettel

2022 Sebastian Vettel Japanese GP helmet

Last, but certainly not least, we have another Vettel helmet designed by JMD. This one is made to look like the Arai box in which the helmets arrive in. So there's a small cardboard hole/handle on the top, as well as the sticky labels and warning texts. My favourite part is the German flag is meant to be like parcel tape, so there's little subtle ripples to give it a 3D, and slightly transparent effect, with tears on either end.

Thanks for all those who have supported me and motivated me to continue with all these helmets. It wasn't always the plan to commit to doing them all, in fact I was going to cut back this year. Without Jvinu's helmets and templates, these helmets would simply not exist, so my thanks goes to him, and to those who convert them and use them in other games.

GP4: 2022 Singapore GP helmets (part 2)

Daniel Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo 2022 Italian GP helmet

Danny Ric kepty this special helmet back until race day. Inspired by Moto GP legend, Valentino Rossi's special helmet from Mugello 2008, this features 'the Doctor's helmet design complete with Ricciardo's face on the top. To be honest, it was impossible to get the seam perfect, but I've got it as close as I could. Because the real helmet was quite reflective, it was hard to find good materials to recreate the face, especially as I needed several angles.

Daniel Ricciardo 2022 Singapore GP helmet

As last year, Daniel Ricciardo ran a glittery version of his standard helmet, painted this time be Jens Munser Designs. Thankfully it made it a reasonably easy update to do.

Lando Norris

Lando Norris 2022 Singapore GP helmet

Lando is allowed one Quadrant helmet design a season, and this is the result, a halo inspired helmet designed by MDM and beautfully painted by JMD. Thankfully I was able to find good sources to recreate this helmet. It's not 100% perfect, but I'm happy with the result for such a complicated design.

Zhou Guanyu

Zhou Guanyu 2022 Singapore GP helmet

This helmet, designed by KV designs was apparently inspired by Zhou's tweet earlier this year, presumably about him loving bubble tea. The helmet has a very distinctive pink/purple base colour and topographical lines in glittery purple. Spewed all over are various clipart illustrations of bubble tea.

Thanks again to Jvinu's helmets and templates, all four helmets have been added to the season pack.

GP4: 2022 Singapore GP helmets part 1

After a couple of prolonged breaks, the Grand Prix are coming thick and fast and I'm trying to keep up with the various helmet designs. I'm releasing a batch of helmets now, knowing I have a few to go, but I hope you enjoy these ones.

Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso 2022 Singapore GP helmet

I like Fernando's simple but effective helmets. This one has a relatively simple design, but the curves are not too easy to replicate with where the seams are on the mapping. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with the result of this, the helmet combining some of the traditional colours of Nando's helmets along with the BWT branding.

Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc 2022 Singapore GP helmet

A return to Punk Paradise, having run a similar design at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP, though it was glittery red then. Thankfully I could recycle some of that helmet on this year's gold edition. A reasonably strong weekend for Charles in this lid.

George Russell

George Russell 2022 Singapore GP helmet

As we no longer have a Malaysian GP, Singapore is now the closest to Petronas HQ. George ran a Petronas coloured version of his helmet, as they announced an extension of the Petronas and Mercedes partnership. Sadly, it was a bit of a forgetful weekend for the young Brit.

Sebastian Vettel

Sebastian Vettel 2022 Singapore GP helmet

Vettel ran this helmet, the black is meant to absorb 99% of light, making the rainbow stand out even more. The helmet is a blended gradient which could have been an issue on the seams, but thankfully I got it to match pretty well.

Alex Albon

Alex Albon 2022 Singapore GP helmet

Last, but not least, we have Albon's helmet designed by kids from a Thai orphanage. I believe this helmet will get auctioned after the race to raise money. The helmet features various cartoons of the kids from the orphange at the top, the Buddist elephant on the sides, and a huge smile at the front. Albon is pictured at the back, with the boy on the left sporting a Liverpool FC top, my home town. It was remarkable that Albon made it back to the cockpit for this race, sadly it wasn't his best showing, although it was still miles better than Goatifi. I enjoyed recreating this one.

These are made to fit Jvinu's helmets, utilising his templates for which I'm am ever grateful, and of course these helmets are compatible whereever ACSPRH helmets have been made.
