GP4: 2022 Mexican and Sao Paulo helmets

Hey there race fans. Today I present to you various helmets from the last two races in Mexico and Sao Paulo (I still can't stop calling it the Brazilian GP). There are 10 new designs to show you and one variant added to the 2022 helmet pack.

Sebastian Vettel - Mexican GP

It was a real loss to that the world now that we are without Dietrich Mateschitz. He has done so much good without flaunting it or seeking business wealth, and that is no more evident than his contributions to F1. He did it for the love of it, and for sure F1 would be in much more dire circumstances without him. Seb dedicated this whole helmet to his memory, and based the design on his first helmet when he was signed as a Red Bull junior back in 1998, complete with Red Bull logos and the text replaced with 'Danke Didi'. As most juniors had essentially the same design back in the day, this helmet in a green Aston did bring back memories of Klien in a green Jaguar.

Max Verstappen - Mexican & Sao Paulo GP

Having clinched his second Championship early, Max has decided to wear a gold based helmet for the rest of the season. In Mexico, the helmet was gold-plated, whilst in Brazil it was chrome gold. Basically the Brazilian version was super shiny and both versions of the helmet are included in this pack, with the differences in the alpha channel. The Mexico edition features real 22-karat gold leaf, the real one not mine!

Lando Norris - Mexican GP

Norris basically got someone to vandalise his helmet with spray paint. That person was artist Jimmy Pierce.

Sergio Perez - Mexican GP

Checo says this is the most Mexican helmet he's ever done with this luchador-style helmet with el Día de los Muertos inspired skull at the front, and various Papel Picado designs. A lovely livery from MDM Designs.

Moving onto the Sao Paulo GP helmets, and a lot of blue, green and yellow paint has been used.

Sebastian Vettel - Sao Paulo GP

In the penultimate race of the season, Seb's lid, complete with a t-shirt he was wearing around the paddock, featuring the climate flag and designed to raise awareness about reforestation. Designed by Christoph Niemann, it is a simple, minimalist, yet striking and clear design that is nicely woven into his usual helmet design.

Sergio Perez - Sao Paulo GP

Sergio Perez has this Black Panther inspired helmet as the Wakanda Forever film launches around the world. As well as the Black Panther logos, the design is based on the superheroes' mask and suit.

Alex Albon - Sao Paulo GP

Alex has worked with Massimo 'mad56' to produce his Brazilian inspired helmet with a beautifully hand-painted custom beach scene on the top. There's a cool video on his socials showing the painting of this helmet. For the first time since 2020, the Williams drivers stopped running the #WeRaceAsOne on their visors.

Lewis Hamilton - Sao Paulo GP

ICYMI, Hamilton is now an honorary Brazilian citizen, so to celebrate his second home Grand Prix, he has a Brazil flag mixed into his usual helmet design. As a result his stars, that represents his World titles, have been moved near the back. At the very back, there is an image based on the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

Charles Leclerc - Sao Paulo GP

Another helmet inspired by the Brazilian flag, mixed in with Monagasque red and white, Charles Leclerc ran this colourful design in Sao Paulo.

Mick Schumacher - Sao Paulo GP

Mick went all nostalgic with this simple blue helmet that is based on his very first helmet when he began karting back in 2005. Clearly based on his father's helmet design, the blue tone is adjusted to match his sponsor 1&1 as they raise funds together for charity. He hopes to auction off this helmet, in conjunction with the team and their sponsor, in aid of a charity to help kids with this helmet.

As ever, thanks to Jvinu for his beautiful helmet shapes and templates.

A reminder that you can view previews of almost all the helmets, of which there are now over 120, on this page https://fongugp4.blogspot.com

One more race to go, I'm not sure who is more eager for this season to finish, me or Fernando Alonso. I hope you enjoy this update.
