GP4: 2026 CSM mod by fongu

The first version of the 2026 Grand Prix 4 Mod is finally here!

First and foremost, I'd like to thank all of the original authors whose work has made this release possible. My role has largely been to compile, adapt, and bring everything together into a complete package.

This release features the full 2026 Formula One grid, with cars created by Excalibur and Isaint. I was also pleased to contribute by creating several of this year's cars myself. The Cadillac livery has been revised and is now much closer to the real-world design than the version included in the initial release.
This release also introduces special liveries for used in the early season Grands Prix:

  • Japanese Grand Prix – Mercedes, Racing Bulls and Haas special liveries.
  • Miami Grand Prix – Racing Bulls, Alpine, and Cadillac special liveries.

These are included alongside the standard 2026 season liveries

The 2026 helmet set has been built on Theofilos' excellent RHP helmet templates, along with Jvinu's Schuberth and Stilo templates. I'm grateful to both of them for providing such a solid foundation on which to paint my own helmets.

Many thanks also go to Excalibur for the updated tyres and the new 3D wheel rims, which add another level of authenticity to the cars.

As with previous releases, this mod benefits enormously from Öggo's GP4++, which brings a wealth of graphical and gameplay enhancements. The flashing lights in particular look fantastic. I've also included gplaps' z-buffer fix. While this feature is now available within GP4++, it is configured here to work alongside crosire's DirectX 9 patch for the best compatibility.

Thanks again to Öggo for making individual cockpit shapes possible. This allowed me to convert cockpit interiors directly from each car, and this release includes the new Aston Martin internal steering wheel.

As always, a huge thank you to Gitanes for his outstanding performance files and physics, which continue to provide an excellent driving experience.

I'm also grateful to Mailson Teles for sharing his updated 2026 TV graphics package, which introduces several exciting new features.

The sound package included in this release is the excellent 2025 Red Bull Honda set by jcgrj.

There are many more contributors who deserve recognition, and a full list of credits is included with the mod. Without the work of the entire GP4 community, this project would be a shadow of what it is.

GP4: 2001 Nürburgring HD AI Track by Hega

I am grateful to be able to share with you this lovely updated track by Hega to add to his series of updated 2001 tracks.

The AI upscaling technique was used by Carl_gpgames to upgrade the original textures in GP4 to high definition ones.

Hega then updates the tracks with additional updated high definition textures with fantastic results.

It really is a pleasure to drive on these tracks with upgraded textures and helps with the immersion of the race weekend.

Enjoy the screenshots by Hega below, and download the track on the link below.

GP4: 2025 RHP Helmets by fongu, Theofilos, Excalibur and Nick9320

2025 F1 Helmets Mod for Grand Prix 4

Overview

Apologies for the delay in releasing this, but this is the 2025 helmet set.

With Jvinu's shapes becoming increasingly out-dated, I was glad to see that new helmet shapes were being developed. ASCPRH had now progressed to version 2, and whilst I had permission and agreement to work with Marco_17, I was unable to contact Daimon for his permission of his helmet shapes. So I was glad to see that Theofilos, some of whose helmets I had converted to GP4 before, had started working on new helmet shapes.

The project is called 'The Real Helmet Project' (RHP):

https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/rhp-real-helmets-project.75985/

As previously explained, the converted helmets of the Arai GP7 and the Bell HP77 are from the pre-VRC release of the Real Helmets Project (RHP) by Theofilos

Nick9320 and I reached out and struck up a working relationship at the time and whilst this project has taken time, I am glad for the helmet upgrade and I think it has been worth the wait. For the time being, we wait for the Schuberth and the Stilo helmets to be made, I continue to work on Jvinu's helmets for the time being.

There are two visor strip versions on the Bell helmet, as well as two wing options. The colour of the driver internal fabric is also specific to each driver now. My thanks goes to Excalibur for helping with the conversion. The hans device remains Jvinu's version, simply because it fits GP4  driver bodies better.

Theofilos is a very talented 3D and 2D artist, and he has painted both Mercedes helmets and the Ferrari helmets, they look stunning.

Credits

All helmets have been designed from scratch with a focus on accuracy and high-resolution detail.

  • Arai & Bell helmet – is from Theofilos’ Real Helmet Project (pre-VRC versions) and converted by Excalibur
  • Ferrari & Mercedes helmets – are painted by Theofilos
  • Schuberth & Stilo – templates by Jvinu (ACSPRH v1)

GP4: 2026 Helmets by fongu & Theofilos

2026 F1 Helmets Mod for Grand Prix 4

4K • Full Grid • Accurate Driver Helmets

Overview

The 2026 helmet pack is now available.

Every helmet has been recreated from scratch in 4K resolution, bringing the current F1 grid into GP4 with improved clarity, sharper detail, and more accurate representation of real-world designs.

Credits

This release couldn’t happen without the brilliant work by others in the community, with helmet shapes and templates by Jvinu (ACSPRH v1) and Theofilos (RHP).

All helmets have been designed from the ground up, with a focus on accuracy and high-resolution detail.

  • Bell helmet – is from Theofilos’ Real Helmet Project (pre-VRC versions)
  • Ferrari helmets – are painted by Theofilos, adapted by fongu
  • Schuberth & Stilo – templates by Jvinu (ACSPRH v1)

Driver-Specific Features

This pack reflects the current F1 grid as closely as possible, with each helmet matched to its correct shape and visual identity.

Helmets are not interchangeable — each design is built specifically for its intended model.

Verstappen

Number 3 added to the transparent wing.

Charles Leclerc

HP logo added to the transparent wing (Ferrari helmet).

Lewis Hamilton

HP logo added to the transparent wing (Ferrari helmet).

Valtteri Bottas

Finnish flag added to tear-off strip handles.

Final Notes

I hope you enjoy this new helmet set and its improvements. Each year, I try to add a new level of realism and accuracy. This season it is the 4K textures and some new specific shapes for drivers.

Thanks for the support, and enjoy.

GP4: 2026 F1 release: Haas and McLaren

Today I’m excited to share the latest additions to the 2026 grid: the McLaren MCL40 and the Haas VF-26.

As mentioned previously, this year’s cars have been split between myself, Excalibur, and Isaint—so this release marks my final contribution to the 2026 lineup. Huge thanks to Excalibur for the outstanding work on the new wheels and rims; they really elevate the overall look of the cars. You may also spot an early preview of the 2026 helmets, with a full release to follow once they’re complete.

McLaren MCL40

The McLaren team continue to use the benchmark Mercedes power unit and having not had an ideal start to the season, nevertheless showed a competitive outing at the recent Japanese Grand Prix.

It was a refreshing change to work on something closer to the sharp end of the grid—my earlier allocations seemed firmly rooted at the back!

Haas VF-26

The Toyota backed Haas team have fared well in the midfield, with some reasonably strong showings so far. Nothing spectacular, just good solid progress with capable drivers behind the wheel.

After many years of quite bland and dull liveries, the Gazoo Racing effect has produced once of the better looking liveries on the grid.

As with my previous release, you will find the internal cockpit shape for each car, along with the collision mesh file.

In the background, work has begun in compiling a mod, and when all the cars, helmets and a good set of physics are shared, I will release a CSM and a non-CSM version of the mod. Until then, I hope you enjoy these new additions to the 2026 grid.

Happy racing!

GP4: 2026 F1 release: Alpine, Aston Martin and Cadillac

The 2026 F1 season is now under way, and so is work on bringing the 2026 grid to Grand Prix 4

I’m thrilled to be able to partner up with the RSCT team and divide up the work between us. I'm grateful for Excalibur and Isaint, veterans of the GP4 modding scene and the dedication they have to keep preparing and sharing up to date cars with you each season. Indeed, my contribution this year is indebted to partnering and discussing and sharing resources together with them.

Even things like a shared light texture, wheel sizes and positions, and some geometry discussions have all helped to create a consistent, polished release.

And today, I’m excited to reveal not just one car, not two, but three cars from the 2026 grid! The regulations are so tight in some areas that some parts of the car can be reused for each car. However, each team has still explored unique aerodynamic philosophies, giving every car its own character.

Alpine A526

I have for you the Alpine A526. Having ditched their own engine programme, they are now Mercedes customers, and they did well to negotiate a deal with what appears to be the benchmark Power Unit on the 2026 grid so far. The styling and presentation of the team is very similar to 2025.

Aston Martin AMR26

There is also the Aston Martin AMR26. Working on the British marque is always a highlight, though nailing the perfect green in-game is a challenge! This year’s AMR26 is striking, clearly bearing the signature of Adrian Newey’s design philosophy. While the Honda power unit isn’t quite up to scratch yet, at least you can enjoy a reliable car in GP4. Why not crank your force feedback to 400% for a more realistic experience.

Cadillac MAC26

And then I've also worked on the Cadillac MAC26 - a nod to the founder of the project, Mario Andretti and his son, Michael. Sadly, it's another bad episode of a tumultous relationship between Michael and F1, but I am so glad to have the right number of teams on the grid to fit GP4! Its asymmetrical livery might not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s guaranteed to stand out on track.

Please note that the rims and helmets shown here are experimental for now. Excalibur is hard at work on a dedicated 2026 tyre and rim pack, which will bring everything together visually once the full set is ready.

I’ve also begun work on the 2026 helmet set, and you may already spot Sergio Pérez’s helmet in the Cadillac as an early preview of what’s to come.

Included in each pack are the car shapes and the textures as seen at the Australian GP.
You’ll also find the internal cockpit view for each car, along with the collision mesh file.

Thank you all for your continued support of the GP4 modding community.

I hope you enjoy these new additions to the 2026 grid.

Happy racing!

GP4: 2004 Track Pack v2.0

It’s time for a new compilation of the 2004 Track Pack.

Since the original release in 2023, a number of community improvements have emerged — particularly updated liveries and revised layouts based on the F1Virtual versions of several circuits. Rather than leaving those improvements scattered across separate downloads, I’ve consolidated them into a cleaner, updated v2.0 package.

What’s New in v2.0

Magny-Cours
Now includes Josekast’s updated livery set, based on the F1Virtual version of the circuit..

Spa-Francorchamps
Updated to the correct layout, incorporating work by MarioB, btone and others. This version better reflects the configuration used during the 2004 season by Josekast.

Hockenheim
Revised with Josekast’s livery updates, again based on the F1Virtual release, bringing improved sponsor placement and trackside detail.

Sakhir (Bahrain)
Now uses the newer version of the circuit by F1Virtual, replacing the previous version that updated the old layout.

Shanghai
Updated version by Naitch7, based on the F1Virtual release.

Additional Inclusion

I’ve also included the 2006 Suzuka by KTC. It is not selected by default within the trackpack, but it’s available as an option.

This version features the altered final chicane layout, which more closely reflects the later configuration of the circuit. It is slightly buggy in places, but I felt it was worth including for those who prefer the revised chicane geometry over the older version.

I hope you enjoy this little update to the 2004 season from the best currently available community updates.

V2.1 includes a fixed version of Indianapolis - by Ricardo Lampert and hi-res textures by Caelen.

GP4: Real Helmets Project – Arai GP7 & Bell HP77 Templates

I’m very grateful to Theofilos for starting the Real Helmets Project for Assetto Corsa last year. It’s an incredibly detailed and well-researched helmet project, and it immediately stood out for its accuracy and modelling quality.

With his permission, both myself and Nick9320 (who now primarily mods for rFactor 2) were able to convert the work to our respective games, helping bring a consistent, high-quality helmet standard across multiple sims.

So far, the project includes:

  • The Arai GP7

  • The Bell HP77

Both helmets come with various clear and solid wing variants. The Bell HP77 also includes the alternative wing specification used by the Ferrari drivers, again available in both clear and solid versions.

In addition, the Bell features multiple visor options:

  • Standard short visor strip

  • Extended visor strip variant

These small details make a big difference when recreating specific drivers and seasons accurately.

I’ll admit this release took a little longer than planned. Part of that was waiting to see whether Theofilos would be adding the Stilo and Schuberth helmets to the project. In the end, he shifted focus toward improving the driver body model in collaboration with the VRC modding team instead.

You can find the original Assetto Corsa release here:
https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/vrc-rhp-real-helmets-project.75985/

Today, I’m releasing the converted helmets for GP4 (kindly converted by Excalibur), along with the original templates provided by Theofilos.

The key benefit of this approach is compatibility. Helmets created using these templates will now work consistently across all three supported sims. That opens the door to shared designs, easier collaboration, and a unified standard moving forward.

Personally, I’m really pleased to have these available. They’re noticeably more detailed and more accurate than the previous generation of helmets, and they raise the visual standard of modern-era mods considerably.

Huge thanks again to Theofilos for the original project — and to everyone involved in bringing it across to other platforms.

*** These helmets are based on the original RHP release. I am trying to gain permission to release the updated VRC version. ***

GP4: 2011 Mod V1.3 – CSM Menu Image Fix

A small but welcome update to the F1 2011 mod — and this one comes courtesy of KerleyF1.

This release focuses on the subtle presentation in the CSM menu interface.

Some of the menu preview images within CSM were either missing or not displaying correctly. While this didn’t affect on-track performance or gameplay, it did leave parts of the menu feeling slightly incomplete, particularly on the Young Drivers Test variant.

KerleyF1 has now resolved that.

All missing preview images in the CSM menu have been created and are displaying correctly, ensuring:

  • Full visual consistency across all car/team selections

  • Proper thumbnail previews where previously blank

  • A cleaner, more polished mod-loading experience

It’s a purely cosmetic update, but these finishing touches help maintain the overall quality standard of the mod, probably the biggest single season mod available in GP4.

Big thanks to KerleyF1 for taking the time to tidy this up.

You can download the updated files here.

GP4: Benetton B197 v1.1 updated

If you’ve downloaded the B197 recently, you’ll know it already features David Marques’ excellent mapping and 4K textures as part of the original release.

While he was preparing the F1 Challenge release (available here), David noticed a detail that deserved a slight correction.

Specifically, the yellow section at the rear of the B197 — an important mark of the colours of Benetton livery — wasn’t matching its real-world reference as closely as it could. Even subtle variations in tone  can be noticeable when compared to period photography or in-game lighting, so David made a quick adjustment which looks a lot better.

All texture files have now been updated to incorporate this change for all races.

GP4: Thruxton by Viking75 - Improved AI and Better Racing

Over the next few days, I have a few smaller updates to share with you. I was going to put everything into one big post, but on reflection, it will be easier to track and find information if they’re split up.

First up: I really enjoyed Viking75’s version of Thruxton — one of my favourite UK tracks. It’s a fast, flowing track where maintaining momentum is everything, and small tweaks to AI behaviour can make a huge difference to how natural the racing feels.

This update focuses primarily on the cc-line. For those unfamiliar, the cc-line defines the racing line used by the computer-controlled cars, but it also influences keyboard steering behaviour. Thanks to the great tutorial written by prblanco over at F1 Virtual, I was able to quickly get up to speed and have a go at creating a new one.

This is my first attempt. I think it’s an improvement, although there’s still room for fine-tuning — particularly around the long right-hander at Goodwood. Church corner remains a great challenge, and I really enjoy the different lines you can take through the Campbell–Cobb–Seagrave complex. The lap times of the computer-controlled (cc) cars are much better now, and keyboard driving feels far more intuitive.

I've also updated the track-side cameras, based off the late 1990s BTCC era.

Here’s a short video of a quick six-lap race using my WEC mod.
I’m racing on the keyboard.

Lap one, into the first braking zone — and I’m a little embarresed to highlight it! I brake too late, a slight misjudgment… and I give the Alpine a rather firm introduction to the runoff area. Not my finest moment.

But our car is fine. Keep calm and carry on!

By the end of the lap, there’s more drama! The Penske Porsche ahead is fighting hard after battling the Jota-run Porsche, and as they approach the final chicane it all gets a bit untidy. As a result the Penske-Porsche struggled to navigate the final chicane and I offer a little nudge on the way past.

There isn’t a huge amount of grip in these cars, so the corners are more challenging than they would be in modern F1 machinery around this track. Touring cars here are great fun as well.

I really enjoyed chasing down the pack, setting up an exciting last-lap tussle for second place with the Cadillac. I completed an overtake at Goodwood, only to run wide at Church and hand the position back. Only the final Club chicane to go and now it's the Cadillac's turn to make a mistake. The door is open, and I was able to sprint past on the run to the finish line. An exciting close to an eventful race.

Next up we have a demo of the external track cameras, here using the 1994 BTCC mod by Huskyman49. Lots of fun in these kinds of cars.

GP4: F1 2025 Mod update v1.2 (CSM) **updated 4th Feb**

F1 2025 Mod compiled by fongu

Here is another update to the 2025 mod.

Another small update adds some updates for up to the end of the season. This includes performance files by Gitanes, as well as updated track specific weather settings.

Excalibur has released some excellent additional liveries for the Williams and these have been included in this mod.

Thanks also to Mailson Teles for exclusively sharing his TV style updated to 2025 exclusively for this mod. There is an option in the CSM menu to enable/disable this, under the TV overlay drop down.

Thanks to Superman77, the external steering wheels have been fine tuned and the rev lights fit the individual steering wheels much better now.

The Sound Hardware Acceleration has been updated to a more updated version from GitHub. It's by a number of collaborators.

The biggest update to this release is by Öggo and thanks to the upgrade of GP4++ to v2.2. This adds modding capabilities to the rear light and blinking under different circumstances. This has now been added to the mod:
  • Now the rain light blinks in wet weather.
  • There is a ERS charging light when you lift and coast.
  • The pit lane light also blinks, but at a different speed to the others.
Sadly, this does not fix the GP4Tweaker limitation of having a brake light to enable multiple ambient glows, but I have tried to limit it by setting the threshold to 200% brake pressure. It is not full-proof, but also the ERS charging light also comes on when braking at speed. Anyay, GP4++ works seamlessly with GP4Tweaker.

I hope you enjoy this update. Here's a little video preview of the mod in action.
