GP4: ICYMI July 2024

Welcome to the latest GP4 News. 

Thank you for the kind words and comments about this site, I appreciate that I can help so many with this simple tool. There's now over 85GB of GP4 content that I'm hosting here, it's taken a lot of time and energy and hard work to get them all. But I'm open to suggestions, and if there's anything you think should be added, let me know. 

Blog Updates

My blog has received a slight upgrade, with a new drop down menu at the top of the site. 

I wanted to split out the different functions of my blog here, with my articles, and my works in their own seperate section. 

Then there's the database of downloads, with Mods, Tracks having their own sections, and the other items under Downloads. There's also useful links for you to check out as well. 

I've also rearranged the links to hopefully be a bit easier to find the downloads you need - these are basically the same as described above. 

I've also added a new link to the Grand Prix Games Discord channel. GPG Discord Server

This server was created back when the Grand Prix Games community website was offline for a prolonged period. Sadly, the prospect of that happening again, possibly permanently looms over the community right now. But Discord is a helpful back up and you can get in contact with me there too. 

GP4 Forever & Josekast's non-CSM mods

Sadly, this month we saw the demise of the GP4Forever forum. 

We have lost a good resource for GP4. 

Josekast ran the forum for many years, and produced a decade worth of non-CSM mods. 

Thanks to Josekast, to MailsonTeles and CaOss, I can share his mods on this blog from 2004 through to 2014.

1996 Track Pack by Naitch7

Based off the work of Cleberpister and Plodekk's 1990s trackpacks, as well as tamburello who did a few tracks, we have a new track pack. One of the missing years, 1996, has now been filled in thanks to Naitch7. 

As well as the updated tracks, there are also some new tuned performance files, and tweaked physics.

1999 cars from Hega's workshop

Hega continues to share with us some of his beautiful remastered works for the late 1990s and early 2000s era and wow do we have a couple of stunners released recently. 

McLaren MP4/14 by CR Formula & Hega

Originally made for Assetto Corsa, our old friend, Soulbringer made this beautiful 1999 McLaren for CR Formula. In many respects, there's some parallels with this years Red Bull - after a dominating year, Adrian Newey produces a revolutionary car that looks a step above the rest of the field, but difficult to drive, a bit unreliable and the field somehow closes up and makes quite an exciting season. 

Anyway, Hega has, with full permission, done a great job in converting it to GP4 to his usual top quality. This car comes with a full season worth of configurations, from low downforce to the super high downforce specifications with as many wings as you could legally throw at it. 

By the way, if you do have Assetto Corsa, check this car out, it's got some great features, like being able to 'flip the bird' at Schumacher. CR Formula

Ferrari F399 v2.0 by ASR Formula & Hega

Receiving the same treatment, Hega has remasted the ASR Formula Ferrari F399. Like the Macca, you have all configurations available, plus a template. 

Again, if you're an Assetto Corsa player, do check out the free mods by ASR Formula, which includes some GP4 alumni invovlved and some of their cars have their roots from the GP4 cars (again with full cooperation). ASR Formula

The 2024 grid continues to grow with the VCARB by Excalibur being released in recent weeks. 

Also updated are the performance files by Gitanes.

IMSA vs Le Mans Sounds by jcgrj

GP4 Fun (GP4 in VR + Commentary Mod) by Sergio Poletti

This is not new, but new to my blog. Called GP4 Fun, this brings two ground breaking mods. 

First, it's possible to play GP4 in VR. 

Secondly, there's a great commentary mod that is worth exploring and updating.
