GP4: Guide to Zaz Tools - CSM process update

thumbnail

Some of you have had issues with my recent mods (1994 v4.3, 1993 v2.0 and the 2025 mod) which rely on injectdll to function correctly.

You can read more about the benefits of injectdll here: GrandPrixGames.org.

This tutorial brings together everything I know about getting the setup working correctly for those who are still having problems.

GP4: ICYMI October 2024

It's been a little while since I last updated you with news from the GP4 community, but we've had some ground-breaking releases that will shape the way in which GP4 will be modded and updates shared in the future.

Once again, legends from the GP4 modding community have cooked up an amazing new tool that opens up a new world of possibilities to modding GP4. We also have a host of other exciting new updates below.

Part of the problem beforehand was that a lot of patches were editing the code in GP4.exe itself, which was limited. GPxPatch and GP4 Tweaker opened up new ways of changing GP4 by use of external DLL's. This tool, which is compatible with both GPxPatch and GP4 Tweaker, uses that same philosphy and started creating a big library of existing and new tweaks to be added to the game without having to touch the GP4.exe file. There's great compatibility with previous tools and, for the creative, opens up the possibility of previously thought impossible (see below).

This is a real game changer, and has been developed over many months, bringing together some of the brightest minds in GP4 modding all together in this new tool. It will take time to learn how to make the most of this new tool, but it will be well worth your time and energy.

Öggo's Dev Corner

In conjunction with the release of GP4 Memory Access, we have some amazing new possibilities now possible by Öggo.

High resolution pitcrew models - previously it was limited to only 400 vertices, but now it is no longer limited. With pitcrew models able to be edited in Blender, this is a significant addition.

Individual Meshes & Textures DLL - This DLL expands original Grand Prix 4 to allow full control of how meshes (front/rear wheels, helmets, cockpits, cars) and textures (cockpits, helmets) are loaded, supporting per-driver, per-team, and per-track custom loading. It includes features to manage LODs (Level of Detail), auto-naming conventions, and fallbacks to default GP4 assets when custom assets are unavailable.
This DLL enables, for the first time ever, the possibility of having individual cockpits, as this was not possible in native GP4.

2001 Melbourne Track

Hega is doing an amazing job with the 2001 tracks, utilising the AI upscaled tracks by carl_gpgames and his own high resolution textures and objects. We now have this beautiful Australian track added, with 11 out of the 17 tracks now updated.

SkaningeN's 2010 cars add-on

SkaningeN is back with his track specific car updates, to go with his previous releases of tyres & rims and helmet packs. The cars are originally by Soulbringer and also CM and Josekast respectively. This is a massive work and worth your time to check out all the versions with a season run through.

GP4: ICYMI - January in GP4

There is a huge amount of work that goes into mods for GP4, and sometimes there is a large gap between downloads. But this past month has seen some significant downloads become available and, in case you missed it, here's some more info about it.

Zaz Tools Update 1.27c by Zaz

Update 14/01/2024: ZaZ fixed an issue with the PreExecute-variable. The fix is now included in version 1.27c.

I know Carl has had some issues with the mediafire account, but here's a working mirror link.

Info

IMSA 2.0 Random

We have Meteoro405 to thank for the CSM update, and this updated mod makes full use of its new features.

Essentially, there was a bug in the loading up bat files. Ariel has written a bat file that produces random variables each time you load the mod.

There are also various track livery options that there are many possible car wad files possible with just a few clicks.

WEC HUD by AugustoGibim

TV Style onboard cam for WEC Series 2023.

This HUD goes great with the mod above.

F1 2000 Mod by rracunis

Hega has been releasing a lot of 2000 content in the past year, making use of EnzoJZ's models that were left gathering dust for over a decade. They've been updated, mapped and painted, along with helmets, cockpits and other things. Rracunis has kindly put it together in a mod, based on my 1994 CSM mod structure.

Bell Helmets Pack (XFM-1, M3, AFX-1, Vortex) by Öggo

Öggo has been slowly working away at various late 1980s - early 1990s helmets, and we've had fantastic Arai, Rheos and Shoei helmets already. Now we have four new helmets, all of them various Bell helmets used in F1 and Indycar. You'll also see these helmets in Assetto Corsa in not too long. I've already started to use the templates on some of these helmets already, I look forward to sharing some of them with you in the not too distant future.

Sebring International Raceway by drt01

This is another brilliant track addition to GP4. drt01 has done a fantastic job putting this together. The track is really bumpy, probably the bumpiest track I've tried.

This is not a new release, but new to my downloads page.

F3000 International Masters by yaya

This is a little conversion from Race07, nicely done by yaya.
